yuka is an artist living in saskatoon, canada. this photoblog is an addition to her site, plastique monkey, which includes her art blog, gallery, and online shop.

the header image here is yuka’s drawing, “new heartbeat”, which was done after hearing elijah’s heartbeat on the fetal ultrasound, when she was only 8 weeks pregnant.

paul masiowski

paul is a resident in neurology at the university of saskatchewan. he designed the plastique monkey site for yuka. in his spare time, he takes way too many baby photos.

paul’s idea was that putting baby photos online would be easier than making dozens of photo albums.

elijah takumi

elijah is paul and yuka’s first child. he was born on 8 june 2007, at 11:49, weighing 7 lbs 2 oz.

takumi (pronounced “TAK-u-mi”) is a japanese word meaning “artisan”. it is written like this: 匠
